*Wild Weekend: Explanation*

Just wanted to mention that, as you can see below, that I have a new post subject for the weekends. I'm going to call them "Wild Weekend". Just a recap of my weekend, more for journal purposes, but still might be entertaining so go ahead and read if you want :) If there is something extra interesting that happened during my weekend I'll probably write another post about it. But usually my weekends are uneventful so like I said, this is more for my journaling purposes :)

*Wild Weekend*

Our "Wild Weekend" consisted of:

Friday

- Snow snow and more snow

- Drive to the big BIG city aka: SLC

- Met my parents and brother's family

- Ate the best German food around. Wiener Schnitzel with Spaetzle and Red Cabbage. It's almost like you're in Germany (Trust me. I know. I lived there.)

- Went to the mall!!!

- Spent too much time in three of my fav stores Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters & Baby Gap(Sad? Yes.) 

- Drove around trying to find Marie Calenders, just to realize I could look up the location on my cell phone... I did, and we found out the one we were looking for had closed down and the closest one was across town. And SLC isn't a small town haha.

- So, we ended up eating at Village Inn

- Everyone else got pies. Yeah, I got a full breakfast. Luckily, Joey helped me eat it

- Started feeling really sick and feverish. First Joey and now me. Go figure

- We headed home at 11pm. Had a long night ahead...

- Half way home we hit a snow storm. So it took us an extra hour to get home. The dirt road to our house hadn't been plowed yet(of course) so we had to cross our fingers that we didn't get caught in the snow drifts and pulled off the road haha

Saturday

- Today I decided was going to be my Lazy Day

- Slept in... till like 10:30am... Okay, so 11am. We got home late okay?!

- Watched "Man on Fire" on TV. Awesome

- Watched "Blue Crush" on TV. Retarded

- Watched "The Hot Chick" on TV. hahaha

- Watched "That 70's Show" on TV. Like 3 episodes

- Decided I should probably get up and take a shower

- Whined to Joey over text that I was bored. He suggested I shovel the walkway. Yuck

- Decided I was bored enough to shovel the walkway

- Half way through I posted this on FB: "Taking a break from shoveling the mountain of snow and ICE from our walkway. Sheesh it's a big job for someone who can't breathe right now haha. If u see me passed out I've got meds and an inhaler in the house thanks haha".

- Finished shoveling after my 2nd wind. It was pure ice okay, it was a workout

- Still had some 2nd wind going on so I grabbed the dog leashes and took the puppies for a walk. On the way back my arms were about ripped out of their sockets so I let the dogs run loose. They stayed with me for the most part... When they weren't chasing after bunnies or the neighbors cows.

- Got home to "Dad" aka: Joey wondering where we were and wondering why I had shoveled the walkway because he was just joking and had been planning on doing it himself

- Cooked a dang good breaded Pork Chop meal that we ate on our TV trays in the living room while we watched recorded episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Modern Family". P.s. Haven't seen "Modern Family"? You haven't lived, or had a coughing/crying fit from laughing so hard. Totally recommend it!

Sunday

- Church, where we teach the cutest class full of 5 year olds. Love them

- Great talks in church. Too bad I coughed throughout the whole hour

- GORGEOUS, sunny day outside. I've been debating taking vitamin D but if the days stay like this for at least 2 days in a row I think I'll be okay

- Headed over to the ranch to have some fried trout the nephews caught themselves, apple pie made by Diane, and corn bread made my yours truly. Delish

- Now here I am. Finally blogging after a full fun weekend.

 The awesome lightbulb display in Anthropologie. Bad quality, I took it with my IPhone and shaky hands haha. But, I am so doing this. Yes, I sure will take those old light bulbs off your hands thank you very much :)

*Going Once, Going Twice...*

This morning before Joey's class we ran over to sell an open heifer(a young female cow who didn't get pregnant) at auction. It went by fast and here's why...

It sounds like the auctioneer is singing really fast. In fact I think that's what he is doing because when the sale is final it kind of sounds like you are slowing a song down and finally it stops. It was interesting. I've been to many auctions before but never one where I swore the guy was literally singing.... Crazy. It was entertaining.

*Wee Bit Wednesday #4*

{One} Do you always wear your seatbelt in the car?I'm embarrassed to say no. I usually wear it unless it's just around town. Which with how much wildlife and snow we have around here, that's probably a really bad thing!
{Two} Do you crack your knuckles?What, is this confession??? Because {cough} yes, okay I do.... A lot.
{Three} What is your favorite flavor gum?Stride Peppermint. I'm always chewing it!

{Four} What is your favorite piece of jewelry that you own?That beautiful diamond on my wedding finger of course, Joey picked it out himself. Besides that, I would have to say my blue beads that used to be my great Grandmothers.
{Five} Who is your best friend?Joey. My mom, sisters and my cousin Amber aren't far behind though :) :)
{Six} What is your favorite smell?I have lots. - I love the smell of dirt, weird? I know, but I just love gardening or working in greenhouses and just smelling the fresh dirt- Magazines(Joey gets a kick out of this one)- Hair salons (Joey loves this smell too haha)- Sautéed and slightly sugared Onions- Sanded Horse arenas- Joey
{Seven} What is your favorite lunch meat?Super thick slices of Honey Glazed Smoked Ham.
{Eight} Do you still have your tonsils?Haha funny story. Yes, but, almost no and wish it were a no. Check out the story here.
{Nine} Do you untie your shoes before you take them off?If I am wearing shoes with laces usually no, I'm lazy. Even though it takes as much time to try and shove my feet back in them as it would be to untie them when I go to take them off haha.
{Ten} What color is your car?I have a white & chrome truck and Joey has a black truck.

*Poor Joe*

I really know Joe is sick when he doesn't argue about going to the doctor, that still doesn't mean that he is going to make an appointment or drive 30 minutes to get there, but, at least he didn't argue. So, I made the appointment, drove his sick little self there and waited for him. Turns out he's got Acute Bronchitis which started from a Sinus Infection that he's also still got and a really high temp. He was given some heavy duty antibiotics and we got him some soup to wash one down with on the way home.  This is what happened as soon as we got back to the ranch...

... boots and all. Looks like we will be staying here tonight. Poor boy :( I hate it when he is sick, and all morning he was just so upset because he kept me up all night from his coughing. So selfless. As for me, I have a sore nose and throat but I think that is a result of my nasal spray I was prescribed at the ENT Dr. So I'm taking it easy on the spray and crossing my fingers I don't get any sicker even though at the rate I get sick I am over-do. So, here's me hoping I don't get it and that Joey gets rid of it! Stay sanitized people everyone seems to be getting sick right now.

*Coldmorning*

Brrrrr, it was cold this morning but, also, gorgeous with the sun shining. I wish I would have had a better camera to capture it but I did my best:

We are getting ready to go round up our first calf heifers to Scour guard, "Big Girl Tag"(as Joey calls it), and Preg check. At least the sun is shining :) I'm gonna try and take some pictures. Have a great day!

*Pillow Talk*

Since I am over at the ranch playing on the internet(if you didn't know, no, we don't have internet at our house and the ranch is 15 mins away, so I only get to update my blog when I am at the ranch and not doing something else... well, duh) and I've been here all day just hanging out, Joey had me tag along in the tractor to go load a friend up with about 10 round bales we sold him. And of course the pups had to tag along since Doc is connected to Joey's ankle and I'm still babying Dolly. And let me tell you, two adult humans, and two stinky dogs in a tractor cab on a snowy, bumpy road makes for an interesting time.

On the way back up the road it had started snowing big time...

Me: It's so crazy that the sun is shining full blast and it's a blizzard out.

Joey: Welcome to Heaven Baby! The sun even shines when it's snowin' here.

And to top off my husband's ridiculousness he starts spinning cookies with the tractor... The BIG tractor... Such a boy. Love him.

*Bored Boy*

My Joey is so funny. He will work work work and when he's got nothing left to do for the day and if it's not dinner/quitting time then he finds something to work on.

Just the other day he comes into his parents ranch house with a shovel. He'd removed the old wooden handle and welded a metal one onto the shovel head. He was so proud of it, he's such a goon. 

I love him forever :)

P.s. He's really sick today :( I've tried to force him to take it easy and drink a lot of water but he's not havin' it, just like he wasn't having my suggestion of running to the Dr. real fast. He goes crazy cooped up in the house all day, so I guess I'll just have to let him go play rancher out in the frozenness and cross my fingers that he doesn't get phenomena!  

*Be Reasonable*

I have decided that over this last year and a half of marriage to my hard working, very smart husband; with all the things we've already been through and with all the work, sacrifice and smarts and budgeting it takes to live the kind of life we've chosen to live... That there are a lot of things that are better to be reasonable about then not.  For instance: (BTW: This is a semi-long post, just with my thoughts and I don't mean to offend anybody.  It's just been on my mind and it's what makes sense for me and Joe)

Vehicles- We have two pick-up trucks.  First off, I know it's not that great with mileage on fuel, but it's what works best for us.  Joe has a 1 ton Dodge cummins, completely stock, no frill's on it what-so-ever.  That's because it's the work truck.  It pulls the huge horse trailer.  My truck is the commute, future baby haulin' truck.  Now, we prefer trucks in Randolph on the ranch because the cars just get beat up from the roads, and unlike SUV's we have a bed in the back to haul "dirties" as I call them (anything that would dirty up or ruin the inside of the vehicle). Also, our for hauling our wolf pack around haha.

I used to (and still kinda do) think these huge, 8" lifted, 35+ mud tires, chromed out, custom painted trucks were dead sexy.... until I got a reality check.  I bought my GMC earlier this year while we lived in town and I thought it was just so pretty with it's small lift, clean inside, and slightly chromed out exterior (I even added a couple chrome detailing after we bought the truck).  And then we moved to Randolph.  After one week you could barely even make out that it was a white truck with chrome detailing because we live down and 1 1/2 mile dirt road and I've had to take it off into muddy, bumpy fields numerous times.  When all that was said and done I had a muddy red/brown truck that could be beat to crap for all anyone else knew.

If you have the money to have a super nice truck, with all this extra detailing to it than that's awesome, good for you, I'll probably envy you for a second or two.  But then I'll think about how for us, we'll save our money that we could use to lift, primp, sexy-up our trucks for when the tranny goes out or the brakes, tires and oil need changed (which they do A LOT).

Clothes- Now this subject I'm not too picky about but still, where we live it's kind of ridiculous not to be reasonable.  It's a cold, muddy, snowy, windy and hairy (from the horses, dogs, cats, cows exc.) life here.  So, I'd rather not walk outside and in my cute heels, expensive jeans, tee, or jacket on just to have a dog jump up and muddy my jeans or accidently rub up my jacket up on my dirty truck.  I've also realized that I'd rather be toasty warm in a makes-you-look-20lbs-heavier-than-you-really-are Carhartt jacket and thick unflattering Wranglers than freeze my tush off in a cute little sweatshirt and skin-tight, paper thin jeans.  It's also pretty hard to save up for a nice pair of durable boots that I'll get a lot of use from when I'm spending all my money on unnecessary clothing.

I do love though to have a few "nice" articles of clothing for church, or when we go out somewhere not ranch related.  I used to spend all my money on clothes, now I'm learning how to keep clothes looking nice for as long as possible by learning how to wash different kinds of material, and steering clear of the color stripping clothing detergents.

Pets- I LOVE my pets (as you all know too well).  I've realized after having pets whom I paid good money for, who I spent so much money on throughout the time I had them and who I spent so much time, care and love on.  Just to see them die.  I love my pets but, from now on if I am going to have them I need reasonable pets.  I need dogs who are our companions but who are also going to work.  Our pets are our family members, so with the life we have all of our family members have to work.  I've always wanted a big cuddly St. Bernard or a cute little Pug.  But, it just makes more sense for our family to have a good cow dog who'll help us out on those long rides in the mountains, or in those tight corners of the cattle shoots where we can't reach to keep the cows moving but the dogs can.

Same with cats.  I adore a sweet cat to cuddle up with on the couch.  I would have 20 inside cats (Yes, I could totally see myself as the old cat lady, with a house full of just me and my 100 cats haha) but, with our little old house we only need one cat inside to take care of the mice.  And she does a great job.

This post is mostly for me, as much as I would love to have a fully-loaded, beautifully brand new vehicle, or super nice, expensive clothes, shoes and jewelry, or a cute little AKA Pug to keep me company and buy cute little dogs things for, or manicures every week(they would need to be every week  because they get ruined after 10 minutes outside around here), getting my hair done at steep priced salons(I get trims every once in a while, no coloring, no hairstyles that require $100 worth of hair product and my sis-in-law usually cuts it for free... Bless you Druc {muah}), the fact is that I simply can't afford these things and they are not reasonable!

So here is me saying, think about what is and is not reasonable to you, in your circumstances, and eliminate any unreasonableness in your life. It really is a smart idea!

*My Handsome Hick Of A Valentine*

I admit, Joey & I don't go all out for Valentines Day. We should because it does just so happen to be the anniversary of our very 1st kiss(2 years ago!). But, our wedding anniversary is when we (try) to go above and beyond and bring out all sorts of mushy gushiness.

But, somehow I talked Joey into taking a half day and coming home after he fed. Since we had most of the day left he took me to the big city (Evanston hahaha) and not only did he take me to a movie and a delicious, fancy dinner, but he also bought me a present!!! What a great husband you think? Well, it gets better... That present just so happened to be a pair of beautiful braided leather reins I had been eyeing at the ranch store there in town. Ahhh, he knows me all too well. I love his guts and livers(as he likes to refer to his love for me sometimes... weirdo)

I hit the JACKPOT and found some amazing women's blogs about their awesome lives of being Ranchers/Rancher's Wives! I love reading about other women out there who have a similar life as mine and who also agree that at times it is hard... but, wouldn't have it any other way!

{two} what is your worst traffic pet peeve?People texting and driving!!! Seriously, I was on a 4 lane interstate, in the middle of a snow-storm, at midnight. And I counted EIGHT people in 5 minutes who were either speeding, going super slow, swerving, or kept slamming on their brakes and TEXTING at the same time! Idiots. 
{three} what room in your house best represents your personality?Our bedroom... see...

{four} do you save old birthday cards?

I have a couple that mean a lot to me... One from my 1st birthday with Joey, a couple from my parents, and one from my Grandpa and step-Grandma(it was the last card my Grandpa was able to sign himself).
{five} when was the last time you went on a picnic?With my family up in Yellowstone last summer I think...
{six} do you regularly check your horoscope?Not at all.
{seven} when you’re home, what do you wear on your feet?My black fluffy slippers. Joey used to squeeze his feet in them too until yesterday when I made him buy his own "man" slippers haha.
{eight} what’s your favorite gambling game?I don't gamble(honestly, I'd probably get addicted haha) But, I do like to take a few bucks and play a couple scratch cards. (Like one of Joey and I's 1st dates... read about it here).
{nine} have you ever written (or started writing) a book?No. I like writing short stories though and I even wanted to try a children's book someday (something to do with ranches and/or cowboys... go figure).

*Tuesday Confessional: Baby Hungry*

Okay, first off let me make myself clear by saying I AM NOT PREGNANT.... Nevertheless, that DOES NOT keep me from buying something (on sale... a good sale mind you) that I LOVE... that just so happens to be for a little person :) :)

I admit I am baby hungry, I am not denying that. But, we're not planning on adding a family member for a little while. With that said, here are only a few of the... {cough} many {cough}... baby things I have acquired over a few months {blush} :)

The first picture has:
1) The freakin' cutest baby boy Wrangler onesie!!! (on sale)
2) Another adorable baby boy plaid shirt & thermal red onesie (really really cheap)
3) A Hurley cute cute little girl shirt (on sale)
4) A Roxy(My favorite brand for little girls, they have the cutest, and well made stuff) really fluffy sweatshirt (on sale)

Second picture is of:
1) A Wrangler tote that I am going to use as a diaper bag. I love it. It's exactly what I wanted as a diaper bag so I had to get it (I've been looking for something to use as a diaper bag someday... yes, I know, I'm ridiculous)
2) A small Ariat duffel bag that was on an awesome sale that I will use as a baby travel bag :)
3) Okay.... aren't these shoes ADORABLE?!?! The tennis-shoes were super cheap and to die for and the Zebra print slippers with the pink bow I saw in a stand at a craft fair forever ago and I wanted them so bad, I ended up finding them again in a baby boutique my mom took me to (yeah, she's grand-baby hungry apparently haha!) and bought them on the spot!
4) A mega-soft small pillow I found at that same boutique that I'm going to use in either a boy or a girl's crib

So, there you go. That's my confession of being completely baby hungry :) :)

*How're The Resolutions Going?: January*

Camera & Classes:

Decided to save up for it. 

Fit into "Skinny" Jeans:

Oh man, this has been harder than I thought, and I knew it would be hard. Here is my work out plan, it's going good, but so far the only difference is my body I've noticed is my stamina. Which is good, but still far from the skinny's.

Natural Hair:

I have been horrible. No I haven't chopped it or colored it. But I haven't trimmed of the nasty ends or had it deep conditioned for a month. My hair lady is HARD to get a hold of but I'm a brat and I love her so I just need to try harder I guess :)

Journal Besides Blog:

Yeah, I haven't written in it once yet. I think I am just going to do a large entry for the month of January haha. Taking the easy road on this one.

No Debt:

Just our trucks still!

Quit Pop:

I had 7 in the month of January. Which is SO much better than an average of one a day!

Love Ranching:

Oh brother...(I felt no need to change this from how it was for the whole month of Jan on my sidebar haha)

I'm doing better :) I was a horrible, grouchy, emotional wreck the beginning of Jan... if you couldn't tell. I've gotten a handle on myself haha. Poor Joey

*Blizzard- Right Here, Right Now*

I am "stuck" at the ranch while Joey is "stuck" at his brother's place

We both just want to be at home

We're having Sage (Joe's nephew) over for dinner

His parents are lucky and in the BAHAMAS on a cruise

Well, I think I have to chance the weather to get home and get Dolly her meds

She got a new wrap today on her leg where she got caught in a barbed-wire fence

We have the worst luck with dogs

*Wee Bit Wednesday #1*

I know it's not Wednesday, but I realized I had started writing this and then never finished so here you go!

{one} what was your favorite sitcom growing up?

We never had TV growing up... Which was nice actually. But, now I have a whole bunch of favs! I lied, I did like the episodes of Early Edition I got to see off and on!

{two} what song always makes you happy when you hear it?
OMGosh... anything Def Leppard and "County Fair" by Chris LeDoux

{three} do you still have your wisdom teeth?

Nope, I got my bottoms ones out when I was 18 and my tops out a year later. I was so lucky, I literally ate a huge hamburger that night.

{four} what is your go to way to relax?

1st Choice: Lay on a blanket, in a field, with the sun shining down on my face... Usually ends in a nap. This doesn't happen hardly ever here. Therefore...

2nd Choice: Hot shower, lotion up really good, PJ's paired with BIG fluffy socks, completed by curling up on the couch to TV or a good book. Maybe some juice involved, love the juice!

{five} do you play any instruments?

The piano, not so good on some days...

{six} nude beaches: yes or no?

{seven} do you chew your pens/pencils?

Pens yes, Pencils no

{eight} can you change the oil in your car?

Yes... Do I? No, that's what the Hubby is for :)

I can crochet... a line, that's it. I didn't get my grandmother's love for crocheting or my mother's talent at knitting

*{Brock Brock} I'm A Chicken*

Not really... but, kind of. I decided not to do the surgery, I didn't feel good about it, it's pricey and yes, I was moody and just want to go home. I've decided to try a nasal spray that will at least will hopefully shrink the large ducts in my nose, the rest I will just live with and it'll be all good. I might decide to have at least one of the surgeries (remove tonsils or sinus correction surgery) or both someday... but, not right now :(

*Missing Them*

I love being up here with my with my family and at my parents house, but, I miss these guys so much. I can't wait till my surgery is over and I'm well enough to go home and cuddle them both :)

*Poked And Prodded*

Monday was a long day. THREE doctor's appointments all crammed into a few hours. It started out like this...

11:30am: Dermatologist aka: Skin Doctor

My mom and I headed to Rigby to get this small cyst I had on my face removed.

Funny story...

We pulled up into the parking lot and there was a limo there so we joked and said, "Oh there's someone famous here... In Rigby! haha". Well, as we were sitting and waiting we overheard the nurse on the phone with another nurse who was off that days saying, "Guess what, you're gonna wish you were here today because Harrison Ford is in with Dr. Bishop... yeah he was up at his place in Jackson(Hole) and had to come in." So there was someone there famous after all! I personally don't care to know about celebs and their lives, I don't read magazines about them or watch shows about them, but, I do really like how good of an actor Harrison Ford is, so I would have been tickled to meet him. But, he was in the back the whole time and the nurses denied him being there by saying, "Even if he were here I wouldn't be able to tell you." Ahh well, it's just funny that he was in Rigby of all places, I mean I know Dr. Bishop was dang good but I guess she's just that good. Needless to say I felt good in the hands of her partner.

Back to what I was saying...

Dr. French laid me down and numbed my face, cut me open, stitched me up (3 stitches), bandaged me up and I was on my way. No cancer or anything haha!

2:00pm: Otolaryngologist aka: Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor

I then had to go get my horrible tonsils checked out. Sure enough I have a continuous infection in my tonsils and Dr. McMaster suggested I get them removed ASAP. He decided (because of my continuous illnesses and sinus infections) to check my nose out. He sprays numbing stuff up my nose, pulls out this llooonng camera/light and proceeds to shove it up my nose. And guess what he finds, a crooked deviated septum and large, swollen air conditioning duct thingys (sorry I forgot the medical term). So, basically one side of my nose is working overtime and getting swollen because the deviated septum in so far on the other side and I'm not getting enough air in that side, which causes the many sinus infections, headaches and puffy eyes. So... joy... I am scheduled for surgery this Thursday. The tonsils will take (about) a week for me to be able to eat solids, 2 weeks till I can go about my usual daily activities and 4 weeks until I'm 100% better. The sinus surgery will require splints that stay in for 5 days and occasional bleeding. AND... I am getting them done at the same time... Ouch. As I see it though, as long as it helps me stay healthy, happy and sore throat & sinus infection free (for the most part) then I'd do it any day... But, still, wish me luck :) Oh and if anyone is in the Burg for the next 2 weeks, feel free to visit me! Please :)

3:30pm Optometrist aka: Eye Doctor

After that painful experience at the ENT Doctor and a serious headache AND my cheek was throbbing by now, I then went to get my glasses and another headache. Yes, I got glasses. I am just all broken... I have astigmatism in both my eyes and I am far sighted in my right eye only. Therefore, the glasses. I don't have to wear them all the time but, I do need to wear them enough so my brain gets used to the picture my eyes project without astigmatism. I picked out some cute Calvin Klein glasses with red that, of course, I look like the world's biggest geek in.

6:00pm: My Mother aka: My Savior in an apron

With an aching face, sore nose, pounding eyes and crazy hair I go to my favorite doctor. My Momma. She gave me some Aspirin, I drank her cold water and she made delish coconut cake and all was better. I'm so glad she gets to be my full time nurse after my surgery :) I love you Momma

I love this time of year because the animals know it's safe to come out of hiding. No one is allowed to shoot them haha. For instance in the canyon Joe & saw a cute {squealy voice}, teen-age moose just trotting down the road. And near Bear Lake there is a herd of at least 40-50 Elk with only a handful of Cow Elk... so yes, that means the rest are all BULL Elk! They are gorgeous with the most enormous racks. And the best is the 3 different deer herds that live on the mountains we live up against. I love to see them each day (just not in the middle of the road, especially in middle of the night).

I got back to my parents after a whole day of being poked and prodded by doctors, tired and sore and I see Christi trying out some exercise DVD moves. I sit down and watch. After a few minutes she sits down next to me. We proceed to watch the girl on the DVD squat, jump, twist and lift for the next 5 minutes. And then Christi simply says...

"I love how we're watching a work out video" {sigh} and then {laughs}
